Description of Duties

        The Assistant Chief Flight Instructor is responsible for overseeing the delivery of flight courses through assigned flight instructors to a varied population. The ACI is a frontline manager that oversees the hiring and supervision of their assigned team. Under general direction, provides leadership and guidance for flight instructors; serves as a mentor to flight instructors and students; and assists to ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) in the training of students and the supervision of flight instructors.

Annual compenstation starting at 60k/yr

Duties

  • Exercise safety leadership by promoting a safety culture which is consistent with the Safety Management System
  • Ensures compliance with Federal Regulations and company policies and procedures
  • Oversee student records in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration and FIT Aviation policy and monitors progress of students
  • Supervises Flight Instructors and flight training activities and monitor/evaluate CFI performance
  • Monitors and develops training courses under Part 61 and Part 141 and update training materials and programs
    • Participates in recruitment and interviews for new instructors
    • Ensures that each student accomplishes the required stage checks and end-of-course tests in accordance with the school's approved training course
    • Performs check rides and flight instructor proficiency checks, standardization and evaluations as applicable.
      • Endorse each student's training record, stage check and end-of-course test reports, and completes course completion paperwork/IACRA in accordance with FAA part 141
      • Attends leadership and management meetings as scheduled and meets with CFI's as required
      • Maintain expected load balance and performance metrics as assigned by the Chief Instructor
      • Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Instructor. ACI's will also be allocated specific responsibilities in relation to Standardization/Evaluation/COA Training/Retail & Contract Training supervision

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Aviation or similar field. Equivalent education and experience may be considered.

 Experience and Skill Requirements

  • Eligible for designation as Assistant Chief Instructor under Part 141.36
  • CFI/CFII/MEI
  • Leadership or supervisory experience in a Part 141 operation is preferred
    • Must possess a working knowledge and understanding of Federal Aviation Regulations, approved/accepted manuals, company procedures and operations specifications
    • Must have the people skills necessary to be a credible and effective technical leader
    • Demonstrates adherence to all professional and company Codes of Conduct
    • Must be a team player with excellent crew resource management skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate with other departments and organizations
    • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Must provide excellent customer service (internal and external)
    • Exhibits the highest ethical standards of conduct in the workplace
    • Demonstrates good judgment and decision-making skills
    • Ability to approach problems and decisions analytically
    • Demonstrates knowledge of the best practices of the industry
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects and tasks
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision and strong initiative skills
    • Computer literate (prior ETA experience preferred)
